Exercise is Medicine® (EIM)

Did you know? Physical activities can actually benefit those who have mild, but chronic medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes. Research has proven that exercise, at the correct intensity and duration, not only improves the quality of life, but also decreases the incidence of disease, chronic health conditions and obesity. Hence, exercise is considered an important adjunct to the prescription of drugs for selected medical conditions.

EIM is a programme spearheaded by Helio Sports to make physical activity and exercise a standard part of preventing and treating diseases. Our EIM-certified professionals have the necessary skills, tools and resources to prescribe exercises in the right dose to prevent and treat over 40 common chonic health conditions for patients and the public.

What is Exercise is Medicine® (EIM)?

EIM is a global health initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), encourages primary care physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity when designing treatment plans and to refer patients to evidence-based exercise programs and qualified exercise professionals.

Helio is committed to the belief that physical activity promotes optimal health, is integral in the prevention and treatment of many medical conditions, and should be regularly assessed and included as part of health care.
